How to handle tattoo bookings from Instagram DMs
Updated October 21, 2026
Instagram is where most tattoo clients find you, and the worst place to run bookings. Details get buried, deposits get forgotten, and every request starts with the same five questions. The fix is to keep Instagram for discovery and move the booking itself somewhere built for it.
Put one booking link in your bio
One link that goes to a form or booking page beats "DM to book". Clients answer your questions up front (which ones to ask), and you get requests in one consistent format.
Save your replies
Most DMs are the same handful of questions: price, availability, deposit, aftercare. Save a reply for each and point people to your link.
Don't hold dates in DMs
"I'll pencil you in" is how double bookings and no-shows happen. A date is booked when the deposit is paid and the policy is agreed, not when someone says "sounds good".
Keep each client's details in one place
References, the agreed design, the deposit and the date should live together, not across a DM thread, your camera roll and a notes app.
How VandalSyn helps
VandalSyn gives you a booking link for your bio, saved quick replies, and one thread per client for messages, designs, the signed policy and payments. Clients don't need an account to book.
